Baptism

The Catholic church baptizes babies. But according to the Scriptures they are missing the whole point. Baptism is the public acknowledgment that one has recognized Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and that one is pledging his life in following him.

I’ve been baptized twice. “Why?” you might ask. Let me explain.

First of all, what IS baptism?

Baptism is the public acknowledgement that one has committed his/her life to
Jesus Christ.

In the story of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts chapter 8, upon being instructed about Jesus from the Scriptures, he came to believe in him and he asked Philip to baptize him, which he did immediately upon seeing the man’s faith.

In Acts chapter 10, Peter was summoned to the house of Cornelius, a Gentile, and he explained the Gospel to them. Then when the Holy Spirit came upon those Gentiles, Peter baptized them.

In Luke chapter 3 we see John the Baptist baptizing believers, and when a crowd came to be baptized by him he called out many as “a brood of vipers” and told them that first they must bear fruits worthy of repentance. There is no record in the Bible of babies bearing fruit for repentance. And there is no record in the Bible of babies being baptized. Not one.

This verse shows that a choice has to be made.
